CMC has now completed a full restoration on this Aston Martin DB Mark III, including an engine and gearbox rebuild, full retrim, and all mechanical items. Finished in British Racing Green with complimentary Beige Leather.
Our skilled panel beaters managed to save a lot of the original bodywork. As a result of their expertise, we managed to retain the Aluminium rear end and roof panel as well as the majority of the bonnet.
Our paint technicians were supplied a small panel which was the correct color that the customer had requested. From the sample, we used a photo spectrometer (Glasurit color camera) to get the formula.
The car was an attractive restoration project in 1977 when it entered storage, despite the fact that it had lived a hard life. There were splits in the front suspension turrets which had been welded and crash damage to the offside body and rear chassis which were repaired at the time.
Besides a total restoration, the chassis needed re-alignment which was facilitated by using a mobile Globaljig body measuring and alignment system.
Aston Martin 345 AKA Chassis No. AM300/3/1547 was delivered new via agent C.Williams to Littlewoods Pools Limited on the 16th May 1958. In July 1961 the car was then acquired by Mr Cecil Moores in the Liverpool area, having kept it until March 1963. Passing through two futher owners until it moved to Portsmouth with its next owner. An MOT certificate identifies that Stubbington Motors Limited carried out a full MOT on the 27th January 1973 at 39,871 miles on the odometer. The car appears to have no record thereafter until it was purchased privatley on the 24th June 1975.
This important vehicle was spotted by Classic Car Magazine in 2015 as a ‘Barn Find’ and once the restoration started they were keen to follow its progress. Classic Cars referred to the build as an ‘Epic Restoration’ and is arguably now better than new. The owner having spent far more to restore than the current asking price. Finished in British Racing Green with complimentary Beige Leather interior. The story of the car was even been subject to a feature in the US Television series ‘Ultimate Rides’.
As a result of our painstaking full nut and bolt restoration on 345 AKA, the car was then invited and unveiled at the 2019 Hampton Court Concours Of Elegance. CMC is very proud to have undertaken this restoration but more importantly to be a part of this car’s history.
