This 1964 Jaguar 3.8 litre manual with overdrive transmission was completely restored by Vicarage Motorcars in 1988 and since then has been in the same ownership until now.

During this time the car has covered some 40,000 miles and today remains in excellent condition. We have carried out the major servicing since 1993 and have known the car since its restoration.

A great car to drive and it should prove to be very reliable. Engine, gearbox, suspension and brakes are excellent and give the driver good feed back, feels like a car that can be driven anywhere with confidence.

At the time of restoration the choice of Signal Red exterior with a Grey interior was slightly unusual but in reality works very well. Even now some 23 years after restoration the leather seats look fantastic as do the carpets and leather door panels, the only real sign that the car has covered 40,000 miles is some wear to the rubber pad on the brake pedal.

As with all Vicarage restorations the car was built from a bare body where every part was either restored and or replaced and like all Vicarage MK2 Saloons this example comes with a comprehensive option package.

Options include power assisted rack and pinion steering, airconditioning, Vanden Plas seating, inertial reel seats belts to the front and rear seats, stainless steel wire wheels, stainless steel exhaust system, HIF SU carburettors, uprated wiper motor and linkages, hazard warning lights, all synchro four speed gearbox with electric overdrive, engine oil cooler and Alpine audio equipment.

This MK2 is a joy to drive, it is smooth handles well and delivers power from a 1000 rpm all the way through to 5000 rpm. The engine has so much torque there is no need to change gear on main roads as you simply use the electric overdrive if you want to drop a gear and accelerate past someone. The Vanden Plas front seat are very comfortable and offer good lateral support for those times when you want to drive enthusiastically.

As with all the classic Jaguars we offer for sale this is a car that you can jump in and drive anywhere with confidence and reliability.
