We are launching an exclusive club that will give members access to premier quality brands associated with motoring, luxury and leisure.

Along with the option of luxury accommodation across Britain, the club offers a wide selection of discounts and benefits in car rental, automotive relocation, breakdown cover, classic car insurance and valuation, amongst other products and services offered by the club partners.

Nick Goldthorp, Managing Director of CMC, said: “The Club was initially meant to reward and gather together our most loyal customers but we decided to open it to the public who are very enthusiastic about classic motoring and the restoration industry.”

He added: “We are offering a wide range of benefits and will also be hosting a number social events and activities along the year, including open days, workshop seminars and an annual dinner that will not only be of interest to members but will also be a great opportunity for making new friends and networking.”

The current club partners include CARS, Classic Additions, Classic & Sports Car, Grange Hotels, Hagerty, Hamilton Classics, Hand picked Hotels, H&H Auctions, Hertz, Longstone Tyres, Octane, Stratstone, The AA and The green Spark Club Co.

Nick Goldthorp said: “CMC’s most loyal customers will be automatically enrolled in the club and receive a membership card but if others wish to join the club, the charge will be £100 and entitles them to receive the club card and be invited to social events at CMC.”

He added: “We designed the Club so that if anyone wants to join, even a limited use of the benefits would more than compensate the annual fee.”

If you would like to know more about the club, partners and how to join, please visit the CMC Club.

CMC is going to restore a 1961 Jaguar E-Type ‘Flat Floor’ Roadster which has lain dormant in a garage for more than 30 years.

This car was the sixtieth to leave the production line and is one of the earliest 3.8-litre right hand drive E-Type roadsters, which remain un-restored with only 65,000 miles covered from new. These early E-Types were labelled ‘flat floor’ due to the lack of a dropped floor area that increased the leg room and was added in subsequent cars.

It was expected to make £20-30,000 at Bonhams’ RAF Museum sale on April 29th but sold instead for £110,000, more than three times its highest pre-sale estimate.

Nick Goldthorp, Managing Director of CMC, said: “Chassis No. 60 will be undergoing a full nut and bolt CMC restoration. We will restore every detail of the car to bring it back to the original specification. Once finished, it will be just as it left the factory.”

He added: “The amazing thing about this E-Type is that every original part is there, although in a very rusty and corroded condition.”

CMC is famous for having restored some of the most historic E-Types, including Lofty England’s Chassis No. 4, the Lindner-Nocker Lightweight and 1VHP, the first RHD Coupe off the production line.

One of our chaps Wayne took an HWM down to Silverstone during the weekend of April 20th as part of an event that celebrated the 100th anniversary of George Abecassis’ birth.

George Abecassis was one of the most important figures in early post-war British racing and co-funder of the HWM Formula One team.

The event was brought together by the Abecassis family as they were trying to get together as many cars as possible that George Abecassis either drove, designed and/or built.

In total there were about 12 cars on display and another 25 actually racing. The weather was excellent along with the racing which made for a great weekend.

The photographs show the car that we took, which is a 1950 Alta engined HWM.

Lofty England’s E-Type, restored by Classic Motor Cars, has featured heavily in the launch of Jaguar’s exciting new F-Type to journalists from around the world in Pamplona, Spain.

This beautiful E-Type, also known as Chassis No. 4 or simply 1600 RW, and the first production car sold sat alongside the new F-Type, C-Type and D-Type as an important element in Jaguar’s Bloodline, leading to the new car.

The car was also used by Jaguar, again as part of the heritage and bloodline of the new F-Type, on the run down from Jabbeke to Geneva, prior to the opening of the Geneva Motorshow.

In November 2012, Chassis No. 4 also joined the all-new F-TYPE in London when Olympian and Jaguar Academy of Sport Ambassador Jessica Ennis announced she was to drive the new Jaguar car in last year’s Lord Mayor’s Show. Another well-known E-Type, Chassis No. 24, which was also restored by CMC, accompanied both cars in the Show. Please see related the articles below:

Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth (CMC) are building a “special” Jaguar MKII for the Director of Design at Jaguar Cars, Ian Callum.

The design specification for the car, which will also involve some fundamental engineering changes, will be put together byIanworking with a handpicked team at CMC.

“This is the first classic Jaguar I have ever owned,” saidIan. “I have greatly admired the Jaguar MKII since I was a boy. Now I have the chance to ‘build’ one to my exact design specifications.”

“To me, the MKII is one of the best looking saloons ever created but as a designer, naturally I want to change a number of details. For that reason, the car that CMC have chosen as donor car will be modified in many areas – both aesthetically and technically.”

He added: “The stance of the MKII is already excellent but I wish to make it even better, the first thing to sort out. The next is simplifying the car in many areas of exterior trim. I need to be very judgemental and work out what in my mind is superfluous and what’s not. The interior will go through a number of subtle changes as well.”

Nick Goldthorp, Managing Director of Classic Motor Cars said: “We have carried out many special projects for clients all over the world, but this is one of the most exciting that we have ever undertaken. We are delighted that Iancame to us. The build of Ian’s MKII is already underway and regular updates will be posted on CMC’s website – www.classic-motor-cars.co.uk.”

Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth (CMC) will be selling classic Jaguars through UK’s leading luxury automotive retailer Stratstone as part of a recently established partnership which is believed to be the first of its kind.

Peter Neumark, Chairman of CMC, said: “We are delighted to have formed a relationship with Stratstone as it is the first time a classic restoration company like CMC has sold classic cars through a main dealership.”

He added: “We will jointly offer a range of classic Jaguars that we have restored or prepared and provide specialist advice to those interested in the cars. Buyers will also be automatically enrolled in the CMC Club, which we are about to launch and gives members access to several benefits as well as 10% off CMC’s standard labour rates.”

James Brearley, Managing Director of Stratstone said “I have a long history with Jaguar and Daimler dating back to 1930’s and like many of our customers we share a passion for classic cars, particularly Jaguar sports cars. We have strong links with the Midland Automobile Club and Shelsley Walsh, so we firmly believe that we are able to understand this specialist market. Throughout my time in the industry I have never come across a restorer as capable or passionate as CMC and it is a pleasure to work with them and their team”

Stratstone of Mayfair’s are currently selling a Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12, one of the last fifty E-Types which have come to be known as “Commemorative”. As the production of Jaguar’s most successful sports car came to a close in 1974, the company marked the occasion by producing a special limited edition. The last fifty cars produced, with one exception (a green one), were painted Black with a Cinnamon interior and each one had affixed on its dashboard a brass plaque noting its unique production number and bearing the signature of Sir William Lyons, the company’s founder.

This particular E-Type, SVT 820N, was built on the 15th May 1974 and dispatched to Byatts of Fenton Ltd, the Stoke-on-Trent dealership who sold it to one Mr. B.P Oakley. He owned the car for 27 years before it was sold at auction to its current owner.

Nick Goldthorp, Managing Director of CMC, said: “Remarkably, this Commemorative E-Type has done only 24,000 warranted miles from new. Its second owner had CMC carry out a sympathetic refurbishment of the vehicle which involved retaining all the original trim, production labels, etc. and also benefitted from a full mechanical overhaul and a bare metal respray. This car could have come off the production line yesterday, it is in magnificent condition.”

Peter Neumark added: “Being one of the last fifty E-Types ever built makes this car not only an important piece of Jaguar’s history but will also probably prove to be a very wise investment. We hope that it helps to increase foot fall at Stratstone’s Mayfair showroom and subsequently sales of new models. It also demonstrates their belief in the importance of Jaguar’s history to the brand. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Stratstone.”

Note to editors:

Individuals interested in purchasing or test driving this Commemorative E-Type will be received by appointment only and a specialist will come to the showroom to brief them with its rich history. The price of this car is available on application.

Nick Goldthorp drove E-Type 1600RW, the first one to be sold, and accompanied by John Butterworth in his Chassis No. 24, the Daily Mail car, they both escorted the F-Type that was driven by Olympian and Jaguar Academy of Sports Ambassador Jessica Ennis.

The pageantmaster of the Show, Dominic Reid OBE, said: “It was great to see Jaguar Cars back in the parade and the new F-TYPE making its UK debut supported by two important E-Types. This was particularly poignant as my father’s E-Type was driven in the show in 1973 by Graham Hill.”

CMC took part in last year’s Lord Mayor’s Show when it celebrated with Jaguar Cars the 50th Anniversary of the E-Type. CMC is delighted to have supported them again with two of the most famous E-Types ever.
